Serene and cozy blending natural materials with modern design, capturing the essence of California living.
In this remodel, the client wanted to open up the connection between the kitchen and living room while still preserving a defined entry. Originally, there were two closets near the entrance, one was removed to make space for a new refrigerator and wall oven, we kept one closet and added a nice wood console. This addition created a welcoming, decorative entryway that also serves as a practical spot for keys and accessories.
From here we also widened the entry to the dining area, which deleted the narrow hallway coming from the entry. making the dining room more expansive and enhancing the flow between spaces. A non-bearing kitchen wall was also taken down to allow for a central island, establishing a more open and connected layout.
Highlights
From there, the design focused on blending modern and rustic elements to achieve a cozy contemporary feel.
One of the standout features is the fireplace wall, where hand-cut limestone and custom oak shelving strike the perfect balance between sophistication and warmth. The result is a relaxed, elegant space that flows effortlessly between rooms while embracing the casual spirit of California living.
This project is a great example of how thoughtful spatial planning and a balance of textures can bring modern and rustic design together in harmony.

A sun-washed blend of warm white, soft sand, natural oak, weathered bronze, and matte black, layered to evoke the quiet elegance of the California coast, where rustic textures meet refined, modern ease.
